Your fax data stays in the region you choose
Documents, metadata and backups are stored and processed inside a single region — Canada or the United States — under controls you can read before you commit.
Pick a region at provisioning
The region is chosen when your account is created and recorded in your service agreement. It is not a preference that can drift — changing it requires a written amendment and a supervised migration.
- Canada For organizations with PHIPA, PIPEDA or provincial public-sector obligations.
- United States For organizations operating under HIPAA or state privacy law.
- Both, kept separate Organizations operating on each side of the border can run separate accounts, each pinned to its own region, under one commercial relationship.
The questions a procurement review always asks
The document itself, the transmission metadata (numbers, timestamps, page counts, status), the derived text index used for search, and the audit log. Nothing else about the content leaves the region.
In the same region as primary storage, encrypted with separately managed keys. Backups are never replicated across the border for convenience or cost.
If a support engineer outside your region needs access to diagnose an issue, it requires explicit authorization, is time-limited, and is written to the audit log you can export. It never happens silently.
You set retention. Deletion requests propagate to primary storage and backups within a published window, and we will confirm completion in writing when a regulator requires it.
A current register naming each subprocessor, its function, and its operating region. Changes are announced before they take effect so you can object.
Need the residency statement for a procurement file?
We will send the dated architecture statement, the subprocessor register and the contractual residency language your review needs.
